Blue and Gold Macaw – Male (as advised) – $2, 500
Loco is a Blue and Gold Macaw, hatch year 2024. We purchased him from a local pet shop in Sydney on 13 September 2024 and have had him for 1 year and 5 months.
He was sold to us as a male. He is not microchipped. He has a leg band with the details: 39 BKS – 2024.
Loco was hand raised and steps up reliably. With new people he can be a little standoffish at first and may be reluctant to step up, but after about 30 minutes he usually settles well.
He will bite if he feels overwhelmed, however he generally gives a warning squeak beforehand. He is used to being around children aged 4 years and over and has been handled by them, including stepping up onto them.
He enjoys head scratches and will blush when he is really enjoying them.
He currently says:

He also does a few whistle tones and does not know any swear words.
Diet includes fresh fruit and vegetables daily, biscuits, and grazing on nuts and seed throughout the day. He enjoys cheese as a treat. He loves his swing and plenty of wooden toys to keep him busy.
He has been raised in a busy household with children and other animals. Our home can be noisy and he has adapted well to both indoor and outdoor settings. He is not overly noisy day to day but will vocalise more if there is yelling or loud excited play nearby.
We are selling due to a change in circumstances. This is no fault of his own.

Any remaining food at time of sale
The cage will be dismantled and pressure washed on the day of handover.
These birds are highly intelligent and high maintenance.
